Unfortunately, Express Schiphol Taxi Centrale does not provide child seats. One of the reasons is that the taxi driver cannot accommodate luggage and 4 passengers due to the space occupied by the child seat. Additionally, it is not mandatory to have a child seat in a taxi. According to the law, children up to 135 cm in height must be transported in an approved car seat. However, there are a few exceptions specified in the law to account for practicality when transporting children in your own car, another car, a taxi, or a bus.
Exception for taxi transportation
In taxis (identified by a blue license plate), if no car seat is available, children from the age of 3 can be transported on the back seat using the seatbelt.
Children under the age of 3 can be transported “loosely” on the back seat, for example, on a lap.
On the front passenger seat, only children taller than 135 cm can be transported, with the seatbelt fastened, of course.
