Fixed rates versus taximeter rates.

In the Netherlands, taxi costs are regulated and consist of three components:

  • Starting rate: A flat fee at the start of the ride.
  • Mileage rate: Based on the distance of the trip.
  • Time rate: Based on the duration of the trip, including waiting time.

The government sets maximum rates for 2025:

  • Starting rate: €4,15
  • Mileage rate: €3.05/km
  • Time rate: €0.50/min
